Last Thursday, 3rd June, the JC 1 Art Club students went to Bishan Park Secondary School to help facilitate an Arts Festival that the school was hosting. Our task was to bring primary school students from various schools for an Art Walk around the school, explaining to them the different elements of Art and allowing them to explore and search their own meanings and feelings towards Art. For most of us, it was the first time having to play part of a role of a ‘teacher’ carrying out a ‘lesson’. It was a fruitful experience as I had the opportunity to practice public speaking and taking the role to lead a group of students. Prior to that, at the end of the walk, we had the task of completing an artwork with the students. It taught me patience in handling with children, as they can be quite difficult to handle at times. Overall, it was a well planned CIP as many of us enjoyed our time spent with the children, and we felt a sense of satisfaction having the opportunity to share with them our love and interest for Art.
